A cable tie, also known as a hose tie, jumper strap, compression tie, or cable tie, is a type of fastener designed to bundle and organize electrical cables or wires. Its instant and permanent ties are also used in a variety of other applications, such as gardening, plumbing, and law enforcement, and can even be used to secure your bicycle cables or other cables.
In its most common form, a nylon cable tie consists of a strip with triangular teeth that slope in one direction. The end of the cable tie has a slot with a flexible snap that fits irrevocably onto the slope of these teeth when the strip is inserted. The snap pulls the back of these teeth to prevent the strip from being removed.
