Types of Bulbs

There are various types of bulbs on the market with different types of lamp holders, each dependent on the type of bulb and the technology they use, so they can offer us certain characteristics. In this article, we will present the most important ones we commonly use in our homes.

LED Bulbs

These are semiconductor devices that directly convert electrical energy into light. They are highly efficient, lasting over 40,000 hours, and emit less heat than others. This type of bulb is increasingly replacing incandescent and halogen bulbs thanks to their long lifespan, greater energy efficiency, and lower thermal radiation.

Low-Consumption Bulbs

This is a type of compact fluorescent lamp that integrates perfectly with incandescent bulbs, making their installation very simple in any lighting fixture.

Fluorescent Lamps

This is a type of lamp consisting of a straight or circular glass tube with gas inside. This gas is stimulated by two electrodes. At the moment of starting, they require a high electrical discharge, so auxiliary equipment such as ballasts or chokes, starters, or electronic ballasts directly integrated into the same lighting equipment are needed.

Fluorescent lamps offer high brightness with a very optimal consumption level, consuming 80% less than incandescent bulbs. They have recently been replaced by LED technology, especially in large installations.

 Halogen Lamps

Their operation is very similar to incandescent bulbs. They consist of a filament through which electric current passes, but in this case, it's with halogen gas, which prevents the filament from easily evaporating, thus achieving a longer lifespan.
