Tips for air conditioner maintenance

Choose the appropriate temperature:

One of the most common mistakes when operating air conditioners, whether for cooling or heating, is setting the temperature to the lowest/highest setting. For example, many people set the temperature to 16 degrees Celsius in the summer, and this is a big mistake. It causes a high electricity bill in addition to the air conditioner being consumed by running it at its maximum capacity. Therefore, try setting it to 19-21 degrees Celsius for cooling and 26-28 degrees Celsius for heating.

Use a fan to circulate the air:

Operating fans helps to distribute and circulate the air significantly, and helps to cool down faster. Therefore, we advise you to use a cooling fan, especially if the outside temperatures are very high. This helps to get the required coolness easily and quickly, increases the efficiency of the air conditioner and does not burden it with high energy, and it also helps to save electricity significantly.

Room closure regulations:

Air conditioner capacities are determined by room size. A small air conditioner cannot cool a larger area than its capacity allows; it will only lead to higher electricity bills and strain on the unit without providing any cooling or heating. Therefore, try to limit the area you want to cool or heat to a size that matches the capacity of the air conditioner.

Location of the air conditioner:

Also, make sure that the thermostat or air outlets of the air conditioner are in a suitable place and that the thermostat is not exposed to sunlight or placed near a hot bulb or other devices that emit high heat, as this may cause incorrect readings and lead to the system running more than necessary even if the place is cool, especially if you are away from the place during the day, as you may not realize that the air conditioning system is doing extra work because the thermostat is placed in an unsuitable place.

Cleaning the filters

One of the most important home air conditioning maintenance tips, at a minimum, is to clean the air filter in the central air conditioner once at the beginning of the summer, or every three months if the air conditioner is running year-round, or once a month if the air conditioning system runs continuously in the workplace or home. Neglecting this procedure leads to weak airflow or even freezing of the refrigerant coil responsible for cooling. Such a procedure increases the air conditioner's efficiency by 5-15% and leads to significant electricity savings.
